We are a group of young people passionate about mental health, and eager to discuss about this important topic. Some of us have lived experiences with mental illness, have relatives/friends who have mental illnesses, or are curious about educating ourselves and others on mental health. Either way, we are a growing group of activists and advocates for mental health education.

Project AKILI is a volunteer led non-profit organisation. Our founders are Daniel Murage, and Wangari Murage and Monica Wahome. Apart from the three founders, a great number of wonderful people passionate about mental health awaremess have joined our team.

Wangari Murage is from Nairobi, Kenya. She is passionate about mental health and hopes to discuss how we can change our culture to be more loving and understanding. In her own words, "We should be kind to everyone we meet since all the people we meet are fighting their own hard battles.

Monica Wangari

Co-Founder & Social Media Manager

Monica Wangari is from Nairobi. She is passionate about mental health and has struggled with Depression & Anxiety. She hopes to fight stigma and change the mental health narrative. At Project AKILI, she shares coping mechanisms and support for those who suffer from mental illness.

Joseph Guchu is a community health and development professional, skillful in diverse health, relief aid and developmental project management. He has a deep passion for mental health and primary health care dynamics and solutions. He loves reading thrillers and enjoys cycling.

Wangu Muthoni studied population studies at Kenyatta University. She enjoys learning about mental health and connecting and managing treatment options among people who have mental illnesses.She is the first intern at Project AKILI and manages our social media and writing projects.
